"Do you send my mother your clippings?"

Hi all,

So i've been working 3 jobs for several months, and as you can imagine, i have very little free time. add that to my commitments to not only foster dogs but to also go to the gym 5-6 days a week and you have something just shy of a psychotic schedule on your hands.

but right now it's hot, i've had a cold bath and even colder white wine, so i have a moment to share what i've been up to.

in my 9-5 job, we just auctioned 33 million dollars worth of coins, our biggest, most important world coin sale ever. This after 2 years of hard work marketing these coins. This has led to writing jobs for me, articles and press releases, and i can't say im thrilled to be writing about coins, but it's fun to at least be published with copy besides a poem when i was 10 and copywriting BS for bridal magazines. it's been fun to nerd out about "magnificent coins". Currently my article is on the front page of World Coin News. I'll have to send my mother my clippings.

Pinups:
The revamped pinups for pitbulls website is being launched next week, with a couple new sections on local heroes and honorary pinups, plus an educational blog which will feature news about BSL, interviews with people working in rescue, and lots of useful info regarding the APBT breed and animal welfare.

Also, i've been holed up with my friend Little Darling and the 2009 applications, making some (tough!) decisions on the calendar models. We're so excited to have such great women on board for this coming year. Honestly we are blown away.

We are also coming up with ad rates for 2009, so if you are a business with a target group in the pinup/rockabilly/psychobilly/animal rescue/hipster/art/photography/music/vintage-retro scenes, please message me about rates, they are totally reasonable and it's great exposure.

Lastly, pinupsforpitbulls is now incorporated, and we are well on our way to 501-c3 (non-profit)status. This is exciting news, as for 2 years, we've been pro bono, and are fast approaching burnout. It will be nice to be able to offer ourselves and those who donate time, materials and money tax breaks and, eventually, a paycheck. The easier it is for us to help the dogs, the more dogs we can help, according to the "golden goose" theory of business (to which i readily subscribe!)

thank you for your support and interest in my endeavors with this over the past 2 years, it's been awesome, and it's growing like crazy. stay tuned for more to come, and visit www.pinupsforpitbulls.com next week to see all the new stuff!

Freelance:
I've been very busy, but have had time to squeeze in some jobs here and there. It's still fun, but I admit it's hard to have 3 jobs! If anyone's needing design/illustration done, email me. I'm still taking work. My goal is to make enough for a fantastic time when I take my mother to europe this fall, but that requires a lot of money. Stupid weak dollar.

Dogs:
I am still fostering Trevor, a sweet little guy who needs a home. He's been taking longer to place because he shows horribly at Petco (gets nervous). But we've been BFFs for 3 weeks and I really want to see him placed. He is black and white, probably a jack russel/chihuahua mix, TOTALLY cute with ears like satellite dishes. He is good with cats, loves to play, and is totally housebroken. (I don't even crate him when i go out.) He is a doll and if i were at a different place in my life I might adopt him. Go to my post about him to read more/see him, and go to amrt.net and scroll down to trevor to read about him and to view the application (click on Long Beach small dog rescue).

Fine Art:
Since this does not pay, and my urgent deadlines have been elsewhere lately, sadly my books and writing have been on the very back, back burner. This weekend, though, before I took myself to a movie I walked around the bookstore, and got re-inspired. i have some creepy crawly children's stuff in the works, but it will have to stay simmering until after mid-july... biding its time..... mwahhahhaaaaaaaaaaaah....
